Mesa Verde was occupied from 600 through 1300 AD and has some of the best preserved archeological sites in the US. 24 Native American tribes are affiliated with this area. My next visit here will have to be longer--1/2 a day isn't even enough to get started here.

Canyonlands is a spectacular National Park with great hiking and amazing scenery. The park is divided into 3 districts: Island in the Sky (to the North), Needles (to the Southeast), and the Maze ( to the Southwest, which I have yet to visit).
