Returning again this year, the Pioneer Way Eagles have 2 chicks in the nest as usual. They hatched around the first of April. The first chick made its first flight on June 27th, or possibly in the evening of June 26th. The second chick first flew on the 4th of July.

blueworldphotography > July 2--the first flying chick is getting around pretty easily now, but still has some awkward landings.  A branch got in the way during this one, but the chick made a good recovery and got to its destination.
blueworldphotography > Frustrated and hungry, the second chick cries out for the adults to bring it some food.
blueworldphotography > After claiming the fish from the adult, the chick eats while Great Blue Herons from the nearby rookery go about their business.
blueworldphotography > The chick which is able to fly follows the adult to receive his reward, leaving the other chick frustrated at not being able to fly yet.
blueworldphotography > Working hard to get the chicks flying, an adult flies by the nest with a trout and takes it to a nearby tree.
